Dr. Karl graduated from veterinary school at the University of Liege in French-speaking Belgium in 1991. Following graduation, he served as an officer and small animal veterinarian for the Belgian Armed Forces in Germany. After marrying Amy, a long-time resident of North Georgia, they moved to the Cumming area in 1992. Dr. Karl pursued his Educational Commission on Foreign Veterinary Graduates licensing through the American Veterinary Medical Association, and after successfully completing all portions of this program, including a hands-on practical evaluation at Mississippi State University and the National Boards, he obtained his license to practice in Georgia. After eight years as an associate veterinarian in the Cumming area, Dr. Karl opened Free Home Animal Hospital in December 2000. His areas of special interest and expertise are diagnostics, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery and dentistry. Dr. Karl and Amy have two young sons, Timothy, and Jeremy, a daughter Meredith, and two cats, Claire and Bijou. |
